Christmas Food Basket Ministry Survives

Lack of leadership nearly did in this mission of the Knoxville Council of Churches but new efforts and a shift in the leadership model have saved the program for this year. A team leadership approach is being stressed. Ida McLease of Knoxville Methodist Church will serve as the overall team
leader this year.

Letters to area businesses and organizations asking for donations have been sent and the group met on October 15th to iron out a few more details.

The Knoxville Council of Churches next meets on November 4, 2014 at Community Bible Church.

We worshipped in the park

August 10 was our annual outdoor worship service at James Knox Park in Knoxville, 3 blocks north of the church building. We met in the small shelter next to Newman Schoolhouse and enjoyed a continental breakfast while contemplating Pastor Phyllis' message.

WOW 2014 VBS....Imagine and Build with God, a Workshop Of Wonders

2014 Vacation Bible School took on an expanded format this year. We Partnered with our friends at First Christian and First United Methodist, and offered programming in the morning and evening for children as well as an adult class and class for junior high age in the evening session.

The theme "Workshop of Wonders, Imagine and Build with God " provided the basis for hands on work projects as well as time to explore the wonders wrought from a journey of faith.

We still have a few "orphan T- shirts" that need adoption. The $10 donation will go to further the work of Rev. Dr. Carolyn Weber in Ethiopia.
