Pastor Phyllis Retires

A winter storm has delayed our farewell party plans, now rescheduled for March 8. We will gather for a time of fellowship at a potluck breakfast at 9:30 AM and bid a formal farewell to Pastor Phyllis during worship.

Pastor Phyllis Sterr had planned to preach her final sermon to our congregation on Sunday February 1, 2015. The sermon is entitled appropriately " A Farewell Sermon" A licensed lay pastor in the United Church of Christ denomination, Phyllis has served as pastor here since August 2004.

Again, thank you to all who worked on this project. 81 families, which included 311 people, were served this year. 64 of the 81 had children in the household ( a total of 138 children). Special thanks to Ida McLeese of Knoxville Methodist Church and Pam Neuhaus of First Christian Church for their leadership on this project.

WOW 2014 VBS....Imagine and Build with God, a Workshop Of Wonders

2014 Vacation Bible School took on an expanded format this year. We Partnered with our friends at First Christian and First United Methodist, and offered programming in the morning and evening for children as well as an adult class and class for junior high age in the evening session.

The theme "Workshop of Wonders, Imagine and Build with God " provided the basis for hands on work projects as well as time to explore the wonders wrought from a journey of faith.

We still have a few "orphan T- shirts" that need adoption. The $10 donation will go to further the work of Rev. Dr. Carolyn Weber in Ethiopia.

The Stained Glass Voice
February 2015

Grace and Peace to you,
This final newsletter article from me is all about being thankful – thankful for many things.
I will start by saying thank you for all of your prayers, love, support, cards, and condolences during my sister, Joyce’s, illness and death. It made a hard time easier to bear.
Next, I want to thank you for your very generous monetary Christmas gift. As always your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
